For Anne Rossi, competing at the Alice Springs Masters Games is about so much more than sport. It’s the fun, friendships and supportive atmosphere that keep her coming back.
“You meet so many interesting people, and it’s actually quite inspiring to see people of so many different ages doing wonderful things,” Anne said. As an athletics coach and competitor in the 50–59 age category, Anne knows just how challenging the sport can be, but says watching older athletes push themselves is a real motivation. “When you see people of that age doing things like jumping into a pit, which is actually quite hard, you think, ‘I want to be like that!’” Anne also coaches a 60-year-old athlete who has undergone quadruple bypass surgery and says the Games provide an incredibly friendly and welcoming environment for him to compete.
For Anne, that’s what makes the Alice Springs Masters Games so special – people of all ages and abilities coming together, supporting one another and proving that a love of sport knows no age limit.
