Some people talk a good game. Debbie Page prefers to walk it.

The Alice Springs local was first across the finish line in today's 5km walk, continuing an impressive run of performances at the Friendly Games.

And for anyone who remembers Debbie's efforts at the 2024 Games, her latest achievement might not come as much of a surprise.

Two years ago, Debbie made headlines when she smashed not one, but two Alice Springs Masters Games records in the women's over-65 category.

She completed the 5km road walk in just 33 minutes and two seconds, taking almost five minutes off a record that had stood since 2002. She also rewrote the record books in the 10km walk, clocking 1:07:37 and taking more than 15 minutes off the previous mark.

Not bad for someone who believes that setting yourself a challenge is part of the fun. Speaking to ABC News during the 2024 Games, Debbie reflected on the importance of having personal goals at any age, as well as the friendships and enjoyment that make the event so special.

And as an Alice Springs local, she's also a passionate supporter of the Games and what they mean to the community. Now, two years on, Debbie is back making her mark, showing that determination, dedication and a good pair of walking shoes can take you a long way.

Another great effort from a local legend who certainly knows how to set the pace.
